Stackable vases are functional sculptures.
A stackable vase is a sculpture made of layers of natural material, shaped into containers that stack on top of each other. Each piece is unique in its details, reflecting its origin in the artisan's workshop and the traditional methods of craftsmanship.
Pia Wüstenberg, the founder and designer of Utopia & Utility, graduated in 2011 from the Royal College of Arts in London. She lived and worked in East London before moving in 2017 to the northern part of Germany and the furthest eastern reaches of Finland.
Her work explores the contrast between human cultures and nature, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and a contemporary approach to handmade objects.
The stackable vases are functional sculptures.
